Ryanair will begin operating from Kassel Airport in summer 2027, with twice-weekly services to Palma de Mallorca and Lamezia Terme in southern Italy. The routes will give the airline its first presence at the North Hesse airport, where both services are already available to book. Kassel handled just over 10,000 passengers in the first nine months of 2026, the lowest total among German airports in ADV statistics.
Secondary reporting gives the planned operating seasons as 31 March to 30 October for Palma, with flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and 29 March to 29 October for Lamezia Terme, on Mondays and Fridays. Ryanair’s route announcement confirmed the destinations and summer 2027 launch but did not specify the dates or weekly operating days.
The airport opened 13 years ago. Ryanair characterised it as a regional airport working with the airline to secure competitive access costs. The carrier also used the announcement to call for reductions in Germany’s aviation tax and other industry costs; these are Ryanair’s positions.
