Avolon finalises order for 140 Boeing 737-10s

Aircraft lessor Avolon has finalised an order for 140 Boeing 737-10s, the largest single-aisle aircraft purchase by a lessor and a record 737 MAX order from a leasing company. The deal takes Avolon’s unfilled 737 MAX backlog to more than 240 aircraft. Boeing and Avolon disclosed no delivery schedule or details on how the jets will be placed with airline customers.

The order adds a substantial number of the largest 737 MAX variant to Avolon’s delivery pipeline. The lessor plans to use the aircraft to support airline fleet growth and replacement, although no customer allocations were identified.

Boeing reported that lessors had placed firm orders for more than 230 737-10s during 2026, five times the lessor backlog for the variant at the end of 2025. Across the 737 MAX family, lessors have ordered more than 1,450 aircraft, representing about 20% of Boeing’s backlog.

The 737-10 is configured to carry up to 230 passengers and has a published range of 3,100 nautical miles (5,740 km). The order announcement did not disclose its value, engine configuration or individual delivery dates.
