Royal Jordanian and Air China signed a memorandum of understanding in Beijing on 22 August to expand air transport cooperation between Jordan and China. The deal covers possible codeshare services, interline links, commercial coordination, training, brand promotion, ground handling, cargo and catering, with Amman and Beijing positioned as hub points. The carriers also signalled support for a future direct Amman-Beijing service.
The agreement was concluded on the sidelines of King Abdullah II’s visit to China. Royal Jordanian chief executive Samer Majali and Air China executive Qu said the partnership is intended to strengthen connectivity between the two markets and broaden operational cooperation across passenger and cargo services.
The MoU leaves open the timing of any codeshare launch and does not include financial terms. It also stops short of confirming a nonstop route, although the two airlines plan to examine that option as part of their wider network cooperation. Jordan has been stepping up efforts to expand civil aviation ties with China, with the new pact adding a commercial dimension to that push.
