Rocket Lab has signed a multi-year agreement with Tokyo-based Synspective for 20 dedicated Electron launches, the largest commercial contract for the rocket in the programme’s history. The missions will carry 20 StriX synthetic aperture radar satellites from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1, with flights scheduled annually from 2028 through 2031.
The deal lifts Synspective’s total booked Electron launches to 47, the most of any Rocket Lab customer. Rocket Lab has launched 13 StriX satellites for Synspective to date, and the two companies have worked together since 2020.
Synspective is expanding its SAR constellation and securing launch capacity into the early 2030s. The companies did not disclose financial terms, and the agreement adds to Rocket Lab’s backlog, which now exceeds 100 missions.
