NTU Singapore completes eVTOL flight-test campaign with DLR in Germany

Nanyang Technological University Singapore has completed a month-long flight-test campaign for its scaled eVTOL demonstrators with the German Aerospace Center at Cochstedt in Germany. The programme used two aircraft versions, including an 8-metre airframe and a smaller 3-metre model, to assess flight characteristics and gather data for future iterations of the design.

The tests were carried out to validate the aircraft’s handling in real flight conditions and to support further development of the Singapore-led eVTOL concept. One of the demonstrators is understood to have been unveiled at the Singapore Airshow in February 2026, with NTU previously indicating a possible crewed version targeted for certification around 2030.

One of the vehicles reportedly climbed above 90 metres, while the smaller demonstrator exceeded 120 km/h during the campaign. The work with DLR gives NTU access to a recognised aerospace test environment as it continues refining a platform intended to move from scaled demonstrators towards a larger, potentially crewed aircraft.
