NATA ground handling safety symposium reaches a decade

NATA marked 10 years of advancing ramp safety at its 10th Annual Ground Handling Safety Symposium in Fort Worth, Texas, where 75 safety professionals, line service managers, operational leaders and trainers gathered on 15-16 September. The two-day event focused on ground-handling risk reduction, with more operational case studies and interactive learning than in previous years, as the association used the milestone to launch a new annual Aviation Ground Operations Safety Day beginning in September 2027.

The symposium was expanded to a two-day format for the first time, reflecting broader interest in practical safety training across business aviation ground operations. Discussions covered recurring ramp hazards and coordination between operators, handlers and training teams, with an emphasis on preventing incidents before they reach the flight line.

Aviation Ground Operations Safety Day will be observed each third Tuesday of September from 2027, creating a recurring date for industry-wide safety messaging and training activity. The initiative extends NATA’s focus on ground operations beyond the symposium itself and gives operators, service providers and trainers a fixed point in the calendar for awareness campaigns and internal review.
