Mexico expands C-130J Super Hercules fleet with second aircraft

Mexico’s air force has taken delivery of a second Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifter, extending a follow-on procurement that began with the country’s first aircraft order in January 2026. The new transport will widen Fuerza Aérea Mexicana tactical airlift capacity and support humanitarian and regional missions across Latin America.

The C-130J-30 is the stretched version of the Super Hercules and offers additional cargo space for transport and support roles. Mexico became the first country in Latin America to join the global C-130J fleet with its initial order earlier this year, and the second aircraft builds on that entry rather than launching a new programme.

No financial terms were disclosed. The aircraft acquisition also aligns with Mexico’s broader use of the type for disaster-relief operations, including recent humanitarian support tasks in the region.
