Lufthansa will introduce its first Airbus A350-1000 on 3 December 2026, operating the aircraft’s inaugural scheduled passenger service from Munich to Tokyo/Haneda. The aircraft, registered D-AIFA and named Deutschland, will be the first example of Airbus’s largest A350 variant to enter Lufthansa’s passenger fleet, with the service forming the initial deployment of a new long-haul subfleet at the German carrier’s Munich hub.
D-AIFA is expected to ferry from Airbus’s Toulouse facility to Munich in mid-November. Lufthansa will complete final preparations before the aircraft enters service, including the installation and readiness of its Allegris cabin. The aircraft will also carry a special livery linked to Lufthansa’s anniversary celebrations.
Shanghai and Singapore are planned as further A350 destinations in the weeks after the Tokyo launch. Lufthansa intends to operate the three routes alternately with the A350-1000 and A350-900, so the larger aircraft will not necessarily serve each flight.
The A350-1000 is the first of 15 aircraft planned for Lufthansa Group, with deliveries scheduled through 2030. The first 10 are intended for Lufthansa and will be based at Munich. The launch announcement did not specify the flight number, frequency, timings or exact start dates for the Shanghai and Singapore services.
