The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch is continuing its investigation into the serious injury of a ground-handling headset operator during pushback of Brussels Airlines Airbus A319-111 OO-SSF at Birmingham Airport. The aircraft, operating flight SN2048, began rolling after the tug had been disconnected and moved away on 24 October 2025, striking the worker’s leg.
The incident occurred during routine pushback, with the injured worker part of the ground-handling team. No fatalities or aircraft damage were reported. The AAIB is examining technical, operational, human and organisational factors that may have caused or contributed to the aircraft’s movement.
The investigation remains open, and the AAIB has not established the cause or assigned responsibility. Its current field-investigation records continue to list the occurrence as under investigation. A final report will be published once the inquiry is complete.
