Lockheed Martin backs Taipan Strike 26 MRGBAD demonstration in Australia

Lockheed Martin has completed a live-fire Taipan Strike 26 demonstration of a developmental Medium Range Ground Based Air Defence prototype at Woomera Test Range with the Commonwealth of Australia and the U.S. Navy. The trial linked radar, command-and-control and launcher elements to show a mobile, medium-range ground-based air defence option for the ADF. It also used virtualised Aegis Weapons System capabilities in a compact expeditionary form factor, drawing on the Aegis baseline tied to Hunter Class frigate and Hobart Class destroyer modernisation work. Lockheed Martin Australia framed the event as an integration path for AIR6500 and broader Australian-U.S. interoperability, not a procurement decision.
