Leonardo and Bristow put AW139 Level D simulator into service in Aberdeen

Leonardo and Bristow have placed a new AW139 Full Flight Simulator into operational service at Bristow Helicopters’ simulation hall in Dyce, Aberdeen, Scotland. The device is certified to Level D and expands access to high-fidelity training for Bristow crews and third-party operators, supporting recurrent and qualification training for the AW139 helicopter.

Developed by Leonardo and CAE through their Rotorsim joint venture, the simulator adds capacity to a facility that already operates an AW189 Level D Full Flight Simulator. The additional device broadens Bristow’s simulator-based training capability in Aberdeen and provides greater access to training for operators using the AW139.

The facility supports Bristow’s wider operational requirements, including helicopter activities in the North Sea and search-and-rescue operations. The companies have not disclosed the simulator’s commissioning cost, annual training capacity or the certification authority involved.
