LAM, the flag carrier of Mozambique, plans to expand its operational fleet to 13 aircraft by the end of 2026 as it presses ahead with a renewal and recovery programme. The increase would add four aircraft by December, supporting domestic and regional demand while improving punctuality, reliability and network resilience.
Dane Kondic, chairman of LAM’s management committee, linked the fleet plan to the airline’s technical and operational restructuring. The expansion combines aircraft returning from major maintenance with additional units, indicating a broader build-up of available capacity rather than a simple restoration of grounded assets.
Recent fleet developments point in the same direction. LAM received two refurbished Embraer E190 aircraft in July 2026, with entry into service still subject to regulatory and operational clearances. The carrier’s wider modernisation effort is aimed at restoring stability and strengthening long-term financial sustainability after years of operational strain.
