La Compagnie sees A321XLR reaching beyond 9,600 kilometres

La Compagnie expects its Airbus A321XLR to have a range of about 5,200 nautical miles, or more than 9,600 kilometres, opening the possibility of nonstop flights from Paris to cities such as San Francisco, Beijing, Johannesburg or the Maldives. The forecast, from chief Christian Vernet, points to a longer reach than Airbus’s standard published maximum for the type and could broaden the French business-class-only carrier’s long-haul network options.

Airbus currently lists the A321XLR’s maximum range at 4,700 nautical miles, or about 8,700 kilometres. La Compagnie’s figure appears to reflect its own cabin and operating assumptions rather than a change to the airframe itself. The airline has not provided a delivery date, route commitment or technical explanation for the higher projection. Even so, the long-range narrowbody could suit its premium, low-density model by improving economics on thinner intercontinental city pairs while avoiding the need for widebody aircraft.
