Fly91 has placed a firm order for 40 ATR 72-600 turboprops in a deal reported from New Delhi that will support its push into smaller Indian cities and underserved regional routes. Reuters put the list-price value of the order at about $1 billion, while Fly91’s chief executive said the airline secured an undisclosed discount. Deliveries are due to begin in the second half of 2027 and run until 2032 or early 2033.
The airline currently operates six ATR 72-600s and plans to lease another six to eight aircraft before the new jets start arriving, taking the fleet to about 12 to 14 aircraft by late 2027. The carrier wants a much larger regional network across India, with a focus on unserved and underserved destinations.
Reuters described the transaction as one of the largest single ATR orders ever and one of the more significant boosts to ATR’s order book this year. The order strengthens ATR’s position in the Indian regional market, where turboprops remain central to short-haul connectivity.
