Icelandair has agreed to lease six Airbus A320neos from Aircastle, extending a staged narrowbody refresh that will lift its Airbus fleet to 20 aircraft once all 10 newly leased jets enter service. The Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-powered aircraft, built between 2018 and 2020, are due before the summer 2028 schedule, complementing four more A320neos from AviLease expected in spring 2027. The carrier is replacing older Boeing 757 and 767 types with new-generation Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and plans to complete the transition by January 2027. The resulting passenger network will operate on aircraft that burn up to 30% less fuel per seat.
