GMF AeroAsia has signed a 20-year concession agreement with Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority to operate and develop a maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at Muscat International Airport. The project, signed in Muscat on 5 October during the Civil Aviation Investment Forum 2026, is set to provide heavy maintenance and periodic inspection services for national, regional and international airlines.
Under the arrangement, the Civil Aviation Authority will retain ownership of the hangar and act as both concession provider and regulator, while GMF will develop and run the hangar and supporting facilities in phases based on market demand and the agreed business plan. The facility is intended to support aircraft maintenance activity at Muscat and position the airport as a regional service hub.
The Oman project expands GMF’s maintenance footprint beyond Indonesia and gives the company a first operational foothold in the Middle East. Local reporting indicated that Oman Air may be involved as an early partner, with its fleet potentially helping to generate initial demand for the site. GMF also signed a separate cooperation document with Mach Aerospace International covering aviation capabilities and human-resource development.
