Galaxy 1 Communications and Viasat have agreed to move their jointly developed support platform for Velaris into production after two years of development, integration, testing and proof-of-concept work. The platform is intended to support commercial delivery of Viasat’s satellite communications service for uncrewed aircraft and advanced air mobility (AAM), with Galaxy 1 providing operational and commercial services, including infrastructure and service management, integration, automation and partner enablement.
The agreement advances the work beyond development and testing towards a managed service model. Galaxy 1’s role covers the operational systems needed to support Velaris and its partner network, complementing the satellite connectivity with functions for integration and service delivery.
Viasat and Galaxy 1 began collaborating on Velaris in March 2026. Their earlier work set out a managed distribution model intended to handle provisioning, billing, compliance oversight and links with flight operations and other applications. The platform is designed for operators using Velaris for uncrewed aircraft and AAM applications.
No customer deployments, aircraft orders, service launch date or commercial scale targets were disclosed alongside the production agreement.
