Garmin has received FAA supplemental type certification for an all-Garmin avionics retrofit on the original Cessna CitationJet, opening the way for a full cockpit modernisation programme for the earliest aircraft in the light-jet family. The upgrade replaces legacy systems with Garmin displays, GTN Xi navigators and a GFC 600 digital autopilot, with installation available through Garmin-authorised dealers.
The certification extends Garmin’s retrofit coverage beyond the CJ1 and CJ2 programmes and targets operators of the original CitationJet with a more integrated flight deck. Garmin’s package is designed to reduce pilot workload while adding safety-enhancing functions and optional connectivity features. Aviation Week also reported the FAA approval on the same date, confirming the timing of the certification milestone.
