Eurowings forecast to have six Boeing 737 MAX aircraft by end of 2027

Eurowings is expected to introduce its first Boeing 737-8 MAX around mid-2027 and have six of the aircraft flying by the end of that year, according to a media report. The forecast would begin the Lufthansa Group airline’s transition from an all-Airbus narrowbody fleet. Lufthansa Group has allocated 40 MAX aircraft to Eurowings, with deliveries scheduled to run from 2027 to 2032; the six-aircraft projection has not been confirmed in the group’s published schedule.

The 189-seat 737-8 MAXs are intended to replace Eurowings’ A319s and older A320s. Their greater capacity and range are suited to longer medium-haul services; each has 39 more seats than the airline’s A319, according to the group’s fleet-modernisation details.

The introduction will make the MAX a new type for Eurowings, which currently operates Airbus narrowbodies. The confirmed allocation covers the 40 aircraft already ordered by Lufthansa Group. The group has also exercised options for 20 737 MAX 10s, but has not assigned those aircraft to an airline.
