Eurowings carries more than 18 million passengers as Berlin network grows

Eurowings carried more than 18 million passengers on 129,000 flights from January to September 2026, while preparing to expand its Berlin Brandenburg Airport network for the winter schedule. The airline plans to station two additional aircraft at BER, increase frequencies and add winter services to Bologna, Rome, Nice, Kuusamo and Lisbon. Its Berlin schedule is set to reach 38 destinations in the 2026/27 winter season.

Across the peak summer period, the average load factor was 88%. Eurowings also reported a customer Net Promoter Score of 46, with 85% of travellers rating its crews positively. It did not provide passenger figures specific to Berlin or quantify the planned frequency increases.

The Berlin expansion comes amid changes in the airport’s market, which the airline cited as a factor in adjusting its offer. The additional aircraft and routes increase its winter capacity from the German capital, although no aircraft type or route-level frequency details were provided for the added capacity.

From 1 December, Eurowings plans to offer its Premium BIZ Seat on all flights to Dubai and selected services to London, Mallorca and Málaga. On the A320neo, the cabin product comprises eight seats in a 2–2 layout.

Lufthansa Group’s Point-to-Point segment, which includes Eurowings and its SunExpress investment, recorded an adjusted operating profit of €214 million in the third quarter, but an adjusted loss of €38 million for the first nine months. The group attributed the pressure in part to higher fuel costs amid the Middle East conflict and rising German taxes and fees.
