Delta Air Lines and Minnesota officials have opened a sustainable aviation fuel blending facility at Flint Hills Resources’ Pine Bend Refinery, creating a new supply route for Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The site can blend up to 30 million gallons of neat SAF a year and move it through existing pipelines to MSP, Delta’s second-largest hub, where the airline burns about 250 million gallons of jet fuel annually. The project converts a 2024 plan into operating infrastructure and gives operators a local SAF path that cuts dependence on constrained delivery chains while scaling the Minnesota SAF Hub.
