DAT Danish Air Transport’s Linz-Frankfurt service continued to underperform in July 2026, with the ATR 72 route averaging about 30% load factor and carrying 2,658 passengers across 122 flights. The figures point to an average of roughly 22 passengers per flight, far below the level needed for a commercially stronger performance on the regional link between Linz and Frankfurt.
The route was taken over after Austrian Airlines withdrew, with expectations that it would eventually reach around 60% load factor. Instead, traffic has stayed weak throughout 2026, with reported utilisation around 27% in April, 30% in May and 35% in June. The July outcome was also well below the previous year’s level, when the route carried 6,546 passengers in the same month.
The first DAT flight on 29 March also opened with a modest passenger count, and the latest numbers suggest demand has yet to recover to the level implied when the connection was relaunched. For Linz, the route remains a test of whether a thin regional link to a major hub can sustain enough traffic to justify its current operation.
