Cargo Wings Express receives approval for EU cargo operations

Tunisian all-cargo carrier Cargo Wings Express has received European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Third Country Operator authorisation for commercial freight operations in Europe. Based at Tunis-Carthage Airport and operating two cargo aircraft, the new airline plans to begin regular services on 25 October, with four weekly flights to Liège in Belgium and one to Paris-Charles de Gaulle in France.

The authorisation was issued on 9 October, and the carrier is listed in EASA’s third-country operator register under reference TUN-0007. The approval is a regulatory prerequisite for covered commercial operations by operators established outside the EU, but does not itself confirm that regular flights have started or replace the requirements of the airline’s Tunisian air operator certificate and operating specifications.

Cargo Wings Express received Tunisian AOC No. 08 on 12 June and has since operated cargo flights to African destinations. It has also completed initial ad hoc flights to Europe and holds European ACC3 security certification for cargo and mail bound for the EU. The airline, which is wholly Tunisian-owned, plans to add several weekly services to Tripoli-Mitiga in Libya, although the final frequency has not been specified.
