British Airways will add Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar to its network for summer 2027, launching a three-times-weekly seasonal service from London Gatwick with Boeing 777 aircraft. The route is scheduled to operate from 29 May to 31 October and will use triangle routing via Kilimanjaro International Airport, with fares reported to start at £849 return including taxes and fees.
The service will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays outbound from Gatwick, with returns from Zanzibar on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The move restores direct British Airways access to Tanzania after a gap of more than a decade, giving the carrier a presence in both the country’s safari gateway and its Indian Ocean leisure market.
British Airways has been expanding its summer 2027 programme and adding African capacity alongside wider network changes. The Tanzania route targets peak safari demand and the UK summer holiday period, while also broadening the airline’s long-haul leisure offering from Gatwick with Club World, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller cabins available on the service.
