Bombardier to bring MHI Canada Aerospace assets in-house in Mississauga

Bombardier has agreed to acquire the assets of MHI Canada Aerospace in Mississauga, Ontario, taking ownership of a key aerostructures operation that supports its business jet programmes and bringing about 750 employees into its own manufacturing network. The transaction, struck with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, will fold the supplier’s work into Bombardier’s production chain and is expected to close later in 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

The Mississauga facility has supplied major structural components for Bombardier aircraft, including the Global 5500/6500 and Challenger 3500 programmes. By integrating the operation, Bombardier will gain additional aerostructure manufacturing capacity and tighter control over parts supply for its aircraft output.

No purchase price was disclosed. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will provide transitional support after closing to help maintain continuity at the site and avoid disruption as the operation moves in-house.
