Bombardier will acquire the assets of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ MHI Canada Aerospace facility in Mississauga, Ontario, bringing a key aerostructures operation in-house for its Global 5500, Global 6500 and Challenger 3500 programmes. The deal adds about 750 employees and is expected to close later this year, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
The Mississauga site manufactures major structural components for Bombardier business jets, including wing and fuselage work. Bombardier described the move as a way to strengthen its in-house aerostructures capabilities, improve resilience and increase autonomy across its supply chain, while supporting aircraft production as demand remains firm.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will provide interim support after closing to help maintain continuity for employees and operations during the transition.
