Boeing and Thailand’s CAAT expand CBTA pilot training across flight schools

Boeing and Thailand’s Civil Aviation Authority have launched a nationwide collaboration to introduce Boeing’s Competency-Based Training and Assessment Learning Library across participating flight training organisations in Thailand. The programme is designed to standardise pilot instruction around CBTA principles, strengthening technical and behavioural competencies as Thai flight schools prepare cadets for modern airline operations.

CAAT is the first regulator to adopt Boeing’s CBTA solution across an entire training ecosystem, extending its use beyond a single school or limited trial. The rollout will be available to participating flight schools across the country, indicating a broader implementation plan rather than a pilot project.

The initiative comes as Southeast Asia faces demand for 66,000 new pilots over the next 20 years. Boeing has framed the collaboration as part of efforts to improve training effectiveness and support the next generation of airline pilots, while a CAAT official linked the move to higher training standards and aviation growth in Thailand.
