Bell wins $33.6 million Navy contract for Marine Corps H-1 helicopter upgrades

Bell Textron has won a $33.642 million Navy contract to supply H-1 structural and power improvement kits for the Marine Corps AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom fleet. The award covers Phase III kits and associated hardware, including nine A-kits, two D-kits and long-lead components such as rotorcraft station control units, AC generators, generator control units and combining gearboxes. Work will run mainly in Fort Worth, with completion due in July 2028. The SPINE upgrade package is aimed at adding electrical margin and digital growth capacity so the H-1 family can absorb future mission systems, weapons and networked sensors through the 2040s.
