Baykar is preparing to enter commercial air freight with a planned cargo airline based in Istanbul, using an Airbus A321P2F as the first aircraft. Recruitment activity on the Turkish drone maker’s careers site points to an establishment phase rather than an operating carrier, with roles spanning flight crew, ground operations, safety, airworthiness and cargo handling.
The project would move Baykar beyond unmanned systems into manned airline operations and add a new participant to Türkiye’s cargo market. The initial fleet is reported to centre on one A321P2F freighter, with room for later expansion, and the type is said to offer about 28 tonnes of payload. The planned network is expected to cover both domestic and international freight.
