A Florida-based aviation broker arranged and paid for Brazilian senator Flávio Bolsonaro’s flight with his family from Argentina to the United States, Baires Fly owner Luis Grande told AFP. The Gulfstream G400, operated by the Argentine charter company, flew from Puerto Iguazú to Florida. Grande said the broker transferred $150,000 from a US bank account to an account in Argentina, but did not identify the broker or the person who commissioned the trip.
Reports have named Trump adviser Jason Miller as the aircraft’s charterer, but that identification remains unconfirmed. Grande said he did not know who the broker’s client was, leaving the ultimate commissioning of the flight unclear.
The trip followed the suspension of Bolsonaro’s passports amid a Brazilian investigation into alleged money laundering. The available account of the booking and payment does not establish any connection between that investigation and the flight.
