AXIS Flight Simulation is moving into the helicopter training market with two new devices: the AX-DH high-fidelity simulator and a fixed-base flight training device aimed at certification by EASA and the FAA. The Austrian manufacturer is targeting civil and specialist rotary-wing training, with first availability expected in about 20 months.
The new products build on AXIS’s existing AX-D platform and use a common architecture with interchangeable cockpits. Initial coverage will focus on Airbus Helicopters and Leonardo aircraft, although the specific rotorcraft models have not yet been disclosed.
The company is positioning the systems for emergency medical services, search and rescue, offshore operations and night-vision-goggle flying. Both devices are intended to support flexible training across instrument and visual flight rules, while virtual and mixed-reality tools, web-based course material and tablet-accessible training are planned alongside an adapted Intelligent Debriefing Station.
The move extends AXIS beyond its core fixed-wing business into a rotary-wing segment where training demand is rising. Exact customer targets and the commercial scope of the launch remain undefined until the company identifies the helicopter types and operators it plans to serve.
