American Airlines to launch OneCabin taskforce to fix cabin defects

American Airlines is preparing to launch OneCabin, an internal programme designed to tackle persistent cabin defects such as broken seats, tray tables, armrests and in-flight entertainment systems. The effort is due to begin on 14 September and will centre on faster repairs at major hubs rather than a fleetwide retrofit.

More than 60 maintenance technicians are being assigned to the programme, with dedicated teams based in Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia and Phoenix. The move targets the kinds of worn or malfunctioning interior items that have drawn frequent passenger complaints and damaged the airline’s cabin image.

The hub-focused approach points to a practical maintenance shift aimed at improving turnaround reliability and keeping aircraft in service with fewer deferred cabin items. For American, the programme also reflects an effort to improve the onboard experience without undertaking a broader interior refurbishment campaign across the fleet.
