An Amazon-associated Boeing 767 cargo aircraft overran a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday and came to rest beside a road near the airport after landing from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Federal Aviation Administration said the aircraft arrived around 2 p.m. local time, and a ground stop was put in place after the jet became disabled on the runway.
The aircraft appears to have been a Boeing 767-300 cargo jet linked to Amazon Prime Air, although the operator identity was still being clarified in early coverage. Video and images showed the freighter off the runway at the airport, underlining the scale of the excursion at one of the United States’ busiest cargo hubs.
The incident disrupted operations at Miami during the afternoon and prompted the FAA to investigate. No confirmed injury report was immediately available in the initial coverage.
