Airbus employees in Spain have voted to begin an indefinite full-day strike from Tuesday after rejecting a company proposal to delay the stoppage while negotiations continue. The action covers major sites including Getafe, Illescas, Albacete, San Pablo and Tablada, and could disrupt production, customer commitments and some deliveries across Airbus’s Spanish industrial footprint.
Unions CGT, UGT and ÚTIL led the mobilisation after morning assemblies backed the walkout, with the wider result aligning with votes expected in Cádiz. The dispute centres on working conditions, telework, wages and other labour terms, after earlier talks through the SIMA mediation service failed to produce an acceptable compromise.
The operational impact is expected to vary by programme. Commercial aircraft output is less likely to feel immediate disruption because of long lead times, but military activity could come under pressure sooner, including deliveries linked to Eurofighter and C295 aircraft for the Spanish armed forces. Airbus employs about 14,000 people in Spain, or roughly 40% of its Spanish workforce.
