Swiss posted weaker peak-summer operations at Zurich, with punctuality falling to 58.7% and short-notice cancellations rising to 337 during the period from late June to mid-August. The airline carried about 3 million passengers across 22,160 flights, while operational stability held at 97.1% even as weather disrupted schedules more heavily than a year earlier.
The result fell short of Swiss’s 65% punctuality target and was described internally as not meeting its standards. Weather was the main cause, with more intense thunderstorms hitting the hub, especially a severe event on 30 June that alone accounted for roughly a third of the short-notice cancellations. Swiss’s short-notice cancellation total was 80% higher year on year, though the carrier still considers its full-year punctuality target of 70% achievable.
