Airbus will install an A220 full-flight simulator at its Asia Training Centre in Singapore, with operations due to start in the fourth quarter of 2027. The unit will support pilot type-rating and recurrent training across Asia-Pacific as Airbus responds to rising demand linked to the region’s expanding A220 fleet and the need for more local training capacity.
The simulator will be supplied through Flight Training Alliance, the Airbus-authorised A220 training provider and a joint venture between CAE and Lufthansa Aviation Training. Airbus Asia Training Centre, at Seletar Aerospace Park, is among the group’s largest training hubs and has capacity for up to 10,000 trainees a year.
The addition is intended to reduce the need for operators to send crews to more distant training locations. Airbus will retain the centre’s operational role for training delivery, while the new simulator broadens the facility’s A220 capability ahead of entry into service.
