Airbus has identified a quality problem on the A330neo’s horizontal tail plane that slowed deliveries over the summer before the root cause was fixed and handovers resumed. The disruption affected the widebody programme’s delivery flow from June through August, with Starlux Airlines reported as the only August customer handover.
The issue forced extra inspections during production and left no A330neo deliveries in June or July. Airbus described the problem as isolated and did not disclose the exact technical fault or how many aircraft required checks. The slowdown came as Airbus was trying to maintain monthly output across its commercial aircraft line-up, with the A330neo setback trimming one part of its delivery pipeline during a period when total monthly handovers had already softened.
