Air Transat will not operate its seasonal Toronto–Berlin service in summer 2027, reversing plans announced earlier in October to increase frequency on the route. The carrier’s decision removes Berlin Brandenburg Airport’s only scheduled nonstop connection to Canada for the season. Air Transat began flying between Toronto Pearson and Berlin in June 2025 and operated the route up to three times weekly this summer with Airbus A321LR aircraft.
The previously outlined 2027 schedule called for two weekly flights from 1 May, rising to three per week during the peak period before returning to two weekly services through 28 October. The airline has described the withdrawal as part of its capacity planning and optimisation, without giving a route-specific explanation. The cancellation is confirmed for summer 2027; it does not establish whether the service will return in a later season.
Air Transat’s European programme for summer 2027 includes five other new nonstop routes: Montreal–Geneva, Montreal–Faro and Toronto–Birmingham, plus Quebec City–Lyon and Quebec City–Barcelona. The Toronto–Berlin launch in 2025 restored the airline’s service to Germany after a pause since the pandemic.
