Air Tahiti faces indefinite strike threat from 22 October

Air Tahiti faces the prospect of an indefinite strike from midnight on 22 October 2026 if talks with unions fail to produce an agreement. The action could affect the French Polynesian airline’s headquarters in Faa’a and airport agencies across its inter-island network, potentially disrupting services, although no cancellations or affected routes have been confirmed.

CSIP, O oe to oe rima and the Air Tahiti cabin-crew union Spencat filed the strike notice on 16 October. The groups represent domestic and international ramp staff, team leaders, cleaning personnel and cabin crew.

Their demands include revised or higher allowances, replacement work equipment, improved duty scheduling and additional staffing. The unions have also raised concerns about deteriorating working conditions and possible ground-safety risks linked to inadequate equipment, staffing shortages and workload.

A strike notice would not automatically halt all flights. The operational effect will depend on employee participation and the outcome of negotiations with management. A separate notice reportedly involving Somstat, which provides aircraft refuelling services at Tahiti-Faa’a Airport, could create an additional operational risk, although the available reporting does not establish whether that action will proceed.
