Ponca City and Oklahoma state officials broke ground on a new $14.3 million terminal at Ponca City Regional Airport in Oklahoma on 30 October. The 14,000-square-foot facility will be built west of the existing terminal and make room for a new aircraft apron. The project is funded by the FAA, the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) and the city; no construction schedule or completion date has been provided.
The FAA is contributing $9.4 million through the congressional Community Project Funding process, while ODAA is providing $1 million and Ponca City $3.9 million. Enrique’s Mexican Restaurant, currently at the airport, is expected to relocate to the new terminal.
The city-owned airport has a 7,200-foot runway, 53 based aircraft and about 140 daily operations. Its existing 8,500-square-foot terminal dates to the 1950s. The new facility is intended to serve pilots, passengers and visitors and support business and general aviation.
An ODAA study for 2026 estimates that the airport supports 237 jobs, $10.9 million in annual payroll and $27.4 million in annual economic activity. ODAA executive director Grayson Ardies, Ponca City Mayor Kelsey Wagner, state Senator Bill Coleman and Representative Ken Luttrell attended the groundbreaking.
