Air Canada to launch A321XLR Toronto–Europe routes, including daytime Heathrow flight

Air Canada will expand its summer 2027 international network with new Toronto services to Oslo, Shannon and Nice, while restoring a fifth daily Toronto–London Heathrow frequency on a daytime schedule. The routes will be flown with the Airbus A321XLR, alongside the carrier’s plan to use the new narrowbody on selected long-haul markets from Montreal.

The Toronto–London Heathrow Daytripper returns on 1 May 2027 as a daily daytime service from Toronto Pearson, with the outbound and return timings designed to preserve a same-day business link between Canada and the UK capital. Toronto–Oslo is due to start on 2 June 2027 and Toronto–Shannon on 10 June 2027, both operating seasonally through the summer.

The expansion extends Air Canada’s use of the A321XLR to thinner transatlantic routes, giving the airline access to longer sectors without relying on widebody aircraft. The same fleet type will also operate Montreal–Basel, underlining the role of the next-generation narrowbody in Air Canada’s network strategy as it opens new point-to-point services and adds frequency on established trunk routes.
