Air Canada plans to launch scheduled service to Lagos in 2027, pending government approvals and completion of operating processes in Nigeria. The new route would give the carrier its first scheduled service to Nigeria and create a direct air link between Canada and West Africa.
The plan follows the expansion of the air transport agreement between Canada and Nigeria, which opened the way for additional commercial services. Air Canada linked the proposed operation to that bilateral framework and has begun the approval process. Schedules and aircraft details have not yet been disclosed.
Mary-Jane Lorette, vice-president for revenue management, partnerships and international affairs, is among the executives associated with the move. The airline has not set a start date, frequency or final route structure, and the service remains subject to regulatory approval in both markets.
