Air Canada and United Airlines will add six seasonal Canada-US routes for summer 2027, expanding transborder flying under their proposed renewed joint business agreement. Air Canada will serve Louisville from Toronto Pearson, Indianapolis from Montréal and Newark from Edmonton, while United will add services from Newark to St. John’s and from Denver to Ottawa and Québec City. Air Canada will also deploy an Airbus A220 on Edmonton-San Francisco to increase capacity.
Air Canada’s Toronto-Louisville service will begin on 28 April and operate through 31 October, increasing to daily frequency in May. Montréal-Indianapolis will run daily from 1 June to 30 September, while Edmonton-Newark will operate four times weekly from 1 June to 17 October. The Newark service will provide Edmonton passengers with access to United’s hub and onward connections.
United’s schedule details for the three new routes have not been disclosed. The carrier also plans to increase Washington Dulles-Québec City flying and raise daily seat capacity between Denver and Winnipeg by 65 per cent.
The airlines’ Transborder Joint Business Agreement, established in 2022, has supported 20 new Canada-US routes. Its renewal and expansion require Canadian regulatory approval, with Transport Canada’s public-interest consultation scheduled to continue through 15 November 2026.
