Lockheed Martin Closes Ultra Maritime Acquisition

Lockheed Martin has completed its acquisition of Ultra Maritime, expanding the US defence contractor’s anti-submarine warfare and undersea systems portfolio. The transaction, completed in Bethesda, Maryland, brings Ultra Maritime into Lockheed Martin’s Rotary and Mission Systems division and adds sonar, sonobuoy, torpedo-defence and autonomous maritime sensing capabilities serving US and allied naval forces.

Ultra Maritime’s product range includes towed and hull-mounted sonar arrays, radar, electronic warfare systems and autonomous maritime sensing platforms. Its international presence and established undersea product lines will be combined with Lockheed Martin’s existing maritime platforms to support integrated sonar and anti-submarine warfare solutions for next-generation naval systems.

The deal had been valued at approximately $3.45 billion in earlier disclosures. Lockheed Martin had previously indicated that regulatory approvals were complete and that the transaction would be funded with cash on hand. The closing announcement did not disclose an integration timetable, expected financial contribution, workforce changes or amendments to customer contracts.

The acquisition moves Ultra Maritime from pending transaction status into Lockheed Martin’s operating structure, giving the defence company direct ownership of a business focused on submarine detection, maritime sensing and anti-submarine warfare for allied customers.
