Jet2 Boeing 737-800 briefly leaves runway during Birmingham landing

A Jet2 Boeing 737-800 briefly left the paved runway while landing at Birmingham Airport on Sunday, 25 October, before returning to the runway and taxiing to its stand. The aircraft was operating flight LS1310 from Venice Marco Polo Airport in strong and gusty conditions associated with Storm Boelo. All passengers disembarked normally, and no injuries have been reported.

Jet2 attributed the temporary runway departure to exceptional weather conditions caused by the storm. The aircraft moved onto the grass after landing and immediately regained the paved surface. The precise cause has not been independently established, and it remains unclear whether the aircraft sustained any damage or whether a formal safety investigation has begun.

Reports identify the aircraft as a Boeing 737-800 registered G-JZHE and indicate that it landed on Runway 33, although those details have not been independently confirmed. The incident occurred amid wider weather-related disruption across the region, including delays, diversions and cancellations, but the effect on Birmingham Airport’s operations has not been fully established.
