ITA Airways expands network with new Rome–Caracas and Rome–Santo Domingo routes

ITA Airways will add direct services from Rome Fiumicino to Caracas and Santo Domingo, extending its intercontinental network across the Caribbean and South America. The Caracas route will begin on 30 March 2027, operating three times weekly with Airbus A330-900 aircraft, while the seasonal Santo Domingo service will launch on 30 November 2026 with Airbus A330neo aircraft.

The Rome–Caracas service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. It will restore a nonstop air link between Italy and Venezuela after a prolonged absence and provide connections through ITA Airways’ Rome hub to destinations across its domestic and international network.

The Rome–Santo Domingo route will initially operate once a week on Mondays, increasing to two weekly flights with the addition of Sunday services from 14 December through the end of March 2027. The service will be ITA Airways’ first direct connection between Rome and the Dominican capital and will use an A330neo configured with Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.

The two routes form part of Lufthansa Group’s largest network expansion since 2020, which includes new intercontinental and European destinations and higher frequencies across its airlines. Caracas bookings are available ahead of the planned launch.
