Lufthansa Group is renaming its Green Fare as Impact Fare, retaining the existing offering across all travel classes at its airlines. The new name reflects tighter regulatory requirements for environmental communications, while the fare continues to support additional sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) use across the group’s network and contributions to selected climate-protection projects outside its value chain.
Introduced in 2023, the fare has been booked by more than five million passengers. Under the Impact Fare, Lufthansa Group deploys an additional amount of SAF in its flight operations within six months of departure. For flights within Europe, the SAF volume is based on 20% of estimated flight-related carbon dioxide emissions, while contributions linked to the remaining 80% support climate-protection projects. On intercontinental routes, the ratio is 10% SAF and 90% project contributions.
Passengers also receive additional miles and points. Depending on the booking class and destination, the fare can include more flexible or fee-free rebooking options. The group’s broader lower-emission strategy also includes fleet modernisation, fuel-efficiency measures, intermodal transport and other customer offerings supporting sustainability initiatives.
