PIA unveils new cabin-crew uniforms ahead of Boeing 787-9 debut

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has unveiled new cabin-crew uniforms designed by Pakistani fashion designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, known as HSY, as the national carrier works to modernise its image. The uniforms were presented in Lahore and are scheduled to enter service on 31 October aboard PIA’s inaugural Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight from London to Islamabad.

The collection was selected after a competitive presentation in Karachi involving 10 Pakistani designers. Its design combines formal tailoring with features intended for long-haul operations, including breathable fabrics, ergonomic construction, freedom of movement and durability.

Colours and detailing draw on Pakistani cultural craftsmanship while retaining the professional appearance expected of an international airline. PIA’s broader transformation is being conducted under consortium-led new management, with the uniforms intended to refresh the carrier’s onboard visual identity and international image.

The uniform debut will coincide with the planned introduction of the Boeing 787-9 on the London–Islamabad route, linking the customer-facing rebranding initiative with PIA’s long-haul modernisation programme.
