Boeing Business Jets is seeking to shorten completion times for its approximately $100 million BBJ Select by using pre-engineered, preconfigured cabin sections. The programme, offered for the BBJ 737-7 and 737-8, is intended to provide a faster, lower-cost alternative to fully bespoke interiors, with completion work carried out by Aloft AeroArchitects in Georgetown, Delaware.
Customers select from cabin layouts that have already undergone design and engineering work, reducing the customer-specific development required for each aircraft. Greenpoint Technologies is responsible for cabin design, while Aloft installs auxiliary fuel tanks and completes the interior.
The partners will conduct parts of the work concurrently rather than following the sequential process typical of a bespoke completion. Boeing Business Jets director of marketing Chris Shindle expects the first BBJ Select projects to take approximately 24 to 30 months as the process is refined, with a longer-term target of about 18 months.
Boeing presented the update at NBAA-BACE 2026 in Las Vegas. The company first announced BBJ Select in 2023 as an option for customers willing to trade some interior flexibility for greater cost and delivery predictability. The initial aircraft are expected to take longer while Boeing and its completion partners build experience with the standardised process.
