L3Harris Receives $876 Million Award to Advance NGJ-LB Pod to the Next EMD Phase

L3Harris Technologies has received an undefinitized U.S. Navy contract modification valued at $876.4 million to advance the Next Generation Jammer Low Band programme into its next engineering and manufacturing development phase. The effort will support the electronic-attack pod’s development for the Navy’s EA-18G Growler fleet and an accelerated delivery timeline, with work led from Salt Lake City, Utah, and performed across the United States and Australia.

The award covers non-recurring tooling and equipment, system-demonstration test-article pods, additional cybersecurity and system-security development, and product, logistics, testing, evaluation and software support for Naval Air Systems Command. Australian cooperative funding is included, while work is expected to continue through fiscal 2031.

NGJ-LB is intended to disrupt and degrade adversary radar and communications operating in lower-frequency bands. Its modular, open-system architecture is designed to simplify maintenance, support future upgrades and enable interoperability with joint and allied forces. The programme is intended to improve and ultimately replace the low-band electronic-attack function provided by the Growler’s legacy AN/ALQ-99 jamming system.

Because the modification is undefinitized, work can begin before the Navy and L3Harris complete negotiations on final contract terms and price. The award builds on the company’s earlier NGJ-LB EMD work and supports the transition towards system demonstration and eventual production.
